The original Stitch ‘N Bitch book by Debbie Stoller!  This is a perfect book to get any knitter; it contains the whys and hows of knitting.  A section on fixing mistakes, starting your own group of knitters, 40 patterns, and awesome illustrations that help you figure out just what *is* a twisted stitch, and why does it look odd?  She even covers some of the knitting superstitions, like it being bad luck to knit a sweater for your boyfriend!
